What is Anaplan, and what is it for?
Anaplan is a cloud-based Connected Planning platform for integrated enterprise planning. The differentiator versus spreadsheets and legacy systems is real-time collaboration, modelling done by business users (not just IT), and instant calculation across models with millions of cells.
How long does an Anaplan implementation take?
Anaplan is known for relatively fast cycles. A lean, well-scoped model can go live in 6 to 10 weeks. Integrated models covering multiple areas (FP&A + S&OP + Supply Chain, for example) usually take 4 to 7 months, broken into two-week sprints with functional output each cycle. The trick is defining a tight MVP and evolving incrementally — not trying to deliver everything at once.
Anaplan or IBM Planning Analytics — how to decide?
There's no universal answer. Anaplan tends to be better when the client wants implementation speed, modelling done by business users, real-time collaboration, and a modern interface from day one. IBM PA tends to be better for very large data volumes, complex business rules via Rules, and clients with existing IBM ecosystem investment. Because we work with both tools, we run an impartial assessment based on real project requirements.
Who is the Master Anaplanner?
Master Anaplanner is the highest technical certification in the Anaplan program. It recognizes professionals with deep platform mastery, the ability to architect complex models, and proven experience in real implementations. It's a rare title — there are only a few hundred Master Anaplanners worldwide. Flexthink has a Certified Master Anaplanner leading projects.
Can Anaplan integrate with SAP, Oracle, Totvs and other systems?
Yes. Anaplan integrates via Anaplan Connect (command line), CloudWorks (native integration), the Anaplan REST API, and ETL tools like Mulesoft, Informatica and Boomi. We've delivered integrations with SAP ECC and S/4HANA, Oracle, Totvs Protheus, Salesforce, and sources like SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery and flat files. Integration is a standard part of any project — not an add-on.
